Dallas, Texas, Dallas County, DFW, Big D, The Metroplex. The city is known by many names. The actual city, within Dallas County covers 385 square miles and houses over 1,223,889 people. Dallas real estate boundaries start south of I-20 and run north to Plano TX, east of I-635 and west to I-360. Bordering cities are Irving TX, Garland TX, Duncanville TX, Desoto TX, Las Colinas TX, Coppell TX, Carrollton TX, Farmers Branch TX and Richardson TX. Those of us who have lived in Dallas for 20 years or more tend to think of all these areas as part of the Dallas landscape. The Metroplex was created by combining Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas and all surrounding cities into one metropolitan area. The main link to the two cities is a shared airport, D/FW International Airport. We share many other amenities such as the Dallas Cowboys football team, Texas Rangers baseball team, Dallas Mavericks basketball team, Dallas Stars hockey team, Six Flags Over Texas amusement park, Fair Park, Nokia Theater and the American Airlines Center, just to name a few.
