Entering our seventh year, Big D NYE is the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the Central Time Zone. Over 35,000 people enjoyed Big D NYE 2013 from inside the gated venue, with thousands more celebrating from surrounding areas. The live television broadcast was viewed by over 611,000 households* in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It was also seen in over 20 markets throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and New Mexico with additional markets scheduled to be added this year.
Over 400 staff and crew-members contribute to the production of Big D NYE. The technical execution involves 15 high definition cameras positioned throughout the venue, three jib cameras, two robotic tower cameras, a helicopter, two music stages, two front of house mix boards, two stage and monitor mix boards, a pair of control rooms (an HD event production switch truck, and WFAA’s control room), four Go Vision portable HD screens, 10 Victory Park HD mega video boards, pyrotechnics and crew from three rooftops. Whew! It’s quite a production!
Produced in partnership by the southwest’s largest ABC television affiliate, WFAA and the American Airlines Center, this outdoor Times Square experience is like none other. The FREE, family friendly event takes place in Victory Park, which is home to the American Airlines Center, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars and WFAA’s sleek Victory Park television studio. Big D NYE boasts gigantic HD video screens, live music, special celebrity guests, and one of the largest New Year’s fireworks displays in the nation.
